The Department of Building
and Construction Management in Haslev
The department is known as "BTH Haslev".
It is the smallest of the five centres of learning for the
Construction Architect in Denmark. The five BTH centres are
situated in Aalborg, Horsens, Odense, Copenhagen and Haslev.
The Academy in Haslev covers the main part of Zealand outside
Copenhagen and we have approx. 150 students and 20 employees.
The Town
Haslev Haslev is situated in the middle of
Zealand 60 km from Copenhagen. It is encircled by woods on three
sides and by green fields on one; hence your first impression will
be that this is a green town. In the town itself, great importance
has also been attached to making the place a green experience for
visitors as well as citizens.
Though Haslev is a quiet town, there is a rich
cultural life, naturally characterised be the large number of young
people attending the education establishments. Above all, there is
a large variety of musical events in season, ranging from church
concerts to folk and rock music, often performed by local choirs
and bands.
The History of the
School The school has a long tradition in the
education of craftsmen, building technicians and constructing
architects. The school was built in 1922. In 1992
The Department of Building and Construction Management
wasinaugurated and in 1999 the
school was merged with the technical academies in Næstved and Køge.
Since then we have been a branch of EUC-Sjælland.
Excellent
Learning Environment The classrooms are fully equipped with a
drawing board and a PC for each student. The Academy has its own bookshop selling books, study
guides, paper and drawing equipment. There are also excellent
photocopying and printing facilities.
The Academy is open from 7.00-16.00, but the
rooms and facilities are accessible 24 hours a day: keys for access
to the building and your classroom are available from the
Secretariat, deposit DKK 200.
Top Multidisciplinary Tuition The tuition is based mainly on multi-disciplinary
projects. Such projects may be a building and civil engineering
project which the student will complete. Project work is carried
out individually as well as in groups and main part of the
teaching. Students are examined on this project.
The projects are multi-disciplinary, and as such their preparation
involves all the disciplines. The students plan and manage their
projects themselves but are supported by the ordinary theory
tuition which runs alongside the project work and is as far as
possible directly related to the project. Researching information
e.g. using the library room and the Internet are also important
components of the project work.
All classes have a timetable showing when an individual teacher
will be taking their class. Apart from the introductory
presentation in the beginning of each lesson the teacher will act
mostly as the students' project consultant, in the classroom,
helping them with any problems with their projects etc.
Student's
Counsil The Academy has a Students' Council (DSR) which
represents the students' interests and arranges parties and other
social and cultural activities. Next to the main building the
students have their own bar connected to the school. It is open
every Friday, where you can play pool and darts, and buy cheap beer
and pop. Behind the school there is a large charming garden, where
it is possible to make different sports activities.
Library The department has
little library "Studiesalen" with
a lot of relevant information for the students. The Library is open
every day from 8:00-14:00. If you need access to the library
outside opening hours you can borrow a key from the headmaster's
office. The library contains the following collections:
